He was born on 19 May 1910 in Pune, Maharashtra, India. He was a member of the Hindu nationalist group, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and later become an excellent member of the extremist Hindu Mahasabha.
He believed that Gandhi’s policies, considerably his advocacy for non-violence and appeasement of Muslims in the midst of the partition of India, have been weakening India’s Hindu majority.
On January 30, 1948, Godse and his co-conspirator, Narayan Apte, shot Gandhi 3 instances at point-blank differ throughout a prayer meeting in Delhi.
Nathuram was arrested and positioned on trial. In the middle of the trial, Godse made a chronic speech whereby he justified the assassination as a vital motion to save a lot of India from partition and the weakening of its Hindu.
His assassination of Gandhi has been broadly condemned as an act of violence and extremism. His actions are seen as antithetical to Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violent resistance and his creativeness and prescience of a pluralistic and secular India.
